Microwave Problems

Baked potato in the microwave?

How long in the microwave per potato. They are medium-large sized potatoes. Is this okay to do when my end result is to make twice baked. I know all the steps to make a twice baked potato, but would rather cook potato in the microwave because I need the oven. Thanks. Total of 3 potatoes.

  1. about 15 mins in a 800 watt microwave
  2. About 10 - 12 minutes per potato. Use the "high" setting. Check them by poking them with a fork. Totally depends on the exact size of the potatoes but this is a good 'rule of thumb'.
  3. 6 min in a 1200 watt microwave
  4. 5 to 6 minutes on each side meaning turning each of them over for 5 to 6 minutes..and make sure too poke them with a fork all around pototoes and wrap in a paper towel.
  5. i have a potato button lol so idk.
  6. wash them first and leave them wet when you put them in the microwave oven.
  7. Oh yeah, I do this all the time...the only problem with cooking them in the microwave to do twiced bakes is that the skin on the outside isn't as stable because it gets all steamy. I would wash the potatos, stick a knife in the a couple times to create some holes for steam to escape and then put them all in the microwave for 5 minutes...when the time is up, squeeze gently to see how soft they are. If they aren't done (which they won't be), turn them over and cook another 5 minutes.. Repeat the process until they are done. I would say 10-15 minutes for all three at the same tiem.
  8. wash potato. poke a few small holes w/ fork into potatoes. microwave on high 6 minutes on each side. test with fork and see if it easily slides into potatoes. wrap in foil for a few minutes until you get the rest of meal ready. they should be good to go. enjoy!
  9. I would start out with maybe 5 or 6 mins. but first you have to pierce the potatoes with a knife i go all the way through a few times & then after washing soak for a few minutes in water or instead of soaking you can put a small glass bowl or cup of water so they don't dry out. if not done by that time try a few more minutes also use the guidelines listed on the microwave.
  10. 10 minutes on high poke holes in the potato with a fork
  11. Add to the rest: Poke holes in the taters (once in the "top" of the tater, once in the bottom, and once at each end)... It'll prevent them from blowing up.
  12. Since you are making twice baked potatos, I would prick holes in them and microwave each for 6 minutes on high. Allow them to sit in the microwave for a few minutes. Check with a knife to make sure it is soft enough. Plus you can make these a day before, refrigerate and pop them into the oven or microwave to heat right before serving.
  13. 3 minutes per potato Just sit it on a paper plate, stab it with a fork first so it don't explode. Check it with a fork after the 3 minutes and see if it is tender. It may need a little longer depending on size.
