Is it safe to use a microwave if the plastic cover in the roof has broken?
There were plastic screws securing a plastic cover in place inside my microwave, at the top. It looks like it was covering the microwave element; the screws have broken and there is a large metal circular object showing now. Is it still safe to use the microwave? I'm not sure if the cover had a purpose other than to cover the roof over and catch food splats.

- Don't use it. You don't want the splats to contact the equipment up there. That's why the cover is there.
- Your Microwave is Not serviceable you need to STOP using it and go get yourself a new one!!!!!!!
- If the element gets food on it then it will burn out and need to be replaced 75 dollars plus labor minimum. The plastic window is a shield to stop food from getting on the magnetron tower.any amount of food will cause the tip to burn and change the waveform of the electrons that rub together and cause friction internally in food.
- It is not safe.. A new microwave now days are only 25.00...
