Microwave Problems

why would a plate crack after being in the microwave?

i made 2 hot pockets in the microwave and after i got it out i picked up the hot pocket and the plate cracked into large pieces.Why?

1. could be that the plate was not microwave safe, or that you put it down onto a cold surface.
2. If you were using a cheap porcellian plate it could crack...especially if it already had a chip or crack in it already.
