Microwave Problems

Why has my Whirlpool microwave oven suddenly lost power?

Our house is 7.5 years old and has been sitting a little over a year due to a foreclosure from previous owners. We have been living in it for approx 2 weeks. Today, out of the blue, I walk in the kitchen and look at the time and noticed that there wasn't one on the microwave. I checked the circuit breakers, no blown fuse there. I unplugged it and plugged the can opener into that receptacle and it powered on, so no problem there. I then plugged the microwave into a different receptacle and no power. What gives?

  1. Usually a dead microwave is caused by a blown fuse inside the microwave.
