- All I know is that it creates hot spots that can burn the baby. I use a bottle warmer i got at targt for $20. Its by "night and day" It works great and warms in about a minute or two.
- why don't you just heat up water to set the bottle of formula in? it is easier to regulate the temperature that way.
- Sometimes, it does not heat the water evenly so you end up with hot spots. When you check the temp, it could feel fine to you but be hotter in the middle and burn your baby. That is why they recommend against it.
- Only problem with teh microwave is that it heats unevenly.
- only problem that i know of is that a microwave can cause hot spots in food and drink but as long as it is well shaken and tested by mum i don't think there is any problem, its like saying putting any childs food in the microwave is a bad thing, all mums do it at some point
- From what I understand, the microwave takes nutrients out of the formula. Also, bottles dont tend to be microwave safe and may mix plastic vapours into the milk. Its better to boil the kettle or heat a container of water in microwave and sit the formula already mixed, in it to warm.
- You can run into "hot spots" in the bottle if the water isnt mixed up. I guess you could heat it that way... test it so it doesnt burn the babys mouth.
- I have warmed my daughter's in the microwave since she was born. People say it creates hot spots. Well, that is why you shake it before giving it to the baby. I don't get why they say that but oh well.
- I add the water to the bottle put it in the microwave for 15 seconds and then add the formula to it and then shake it. Its just stupid that they say it heats unevenly because if your shaking it then theres not going to be hot spots. Its not easier to warm a bottle in a pot of hot water because when a baby is hungry they don't want to wait and no one wants to let their baby cry because they are hungry. If you warm a bottle in a pot of water it takes awhile I used to do it until finally I was told to just put it in the microwave for like 10-15 seconds bring it out shake it and it will be fine. If you shake it and it feels hot to you then obviously don't feed it to your baby. But like I said I add the water to the bottle put it in the microwave then bring it out add the formula and then shake it. Hope that helps.
